About The Position

The FanSided network, part of the Minute Media family, features more than 300 websites covering a variety of sports, entertainment and lifestyle topics. Launched in 2007, FanSided is one of the industry’s fastest-growing digital content networks and includes sites dedicated to every major professional sports team, all of the nation’s top college athletic programs, popular TV shows, movies and other celebrated sports, culture, tech and entertainment categories. As a Social Media Associate, you’ll be responsible for keeping up to date on the latest news and conversations of the sports world, while working together with the team to utilize that knowledge to monitor, engage with, and help grow social media communities with a hyperlocal team focus. This includes: identifying which creative posts and communities are performing well in real-time (through social analytics) and strategizing the best approach for each hyperlocal page, and producing engaging creative content across our vast influencer network. Additionally, this role includes reporting social performance data to management and researching and databasing influencer pages.

Requirements

  • Passion for and strong knowledge of all major professional sports
  • Ability to create engaging social media content in Photoshop and/or Canva
  • Able to closely follow direction and style
  • Attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and capability of multitasking at a fast pace
  • Well organized and proactive team player
  • Availability to work on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
  • Reliability and punctuality is an absolute must

Nice To Haves

  • Ideally, 1-2 years of sports social media experience (i.e., posting on a sports fanpage)
  • Previous experience with or interest in video production, editing, or on air video
  • Ability to quickly produce clean and interesting captions on a variety of trending/viral topics
  • Capacity to say more about a trending topic than what has already been said

Responsibilities

  • Distribute content from Minute Media brands to our network of social media sites
  • Create engaging visual social media content
  • Help monitor and grow social communities across the FanSided network
  • Proactively plan for the sports calendar and create tentpole event content
  • Use Google Analytics and Facebook insights to report data to management
  • Immerse yourself in the day to day of local sports fandoms to engage in active social media communities
  • Research and report on league specific and hyperlocal sports influencers
  • Proactively search and distribute posts across the FanSided network
