About the position

Pace University is seeking student leaders to join the Social Justice Week Planning Committee as Student Co-chairs for various subcommittees. The positions are designed to empower students to take an active role in planning and facilitating events that promote social justice within the university community. The roles come with stipends of $350 for each subcommittee co-chair position, contingent upon the completion of duties and a positive evaluation. The expected workload is flexible, with no more than 20 hours per week during the academic sessions and up to 35 hours during breaks. The duties commence upon agreement to fulfill the role and conclude at the end of the Fall semester.

Responsibilities

  • Meet regularly with the Faculty/Staff Co-chair and assist with planning and facilitating subcommittee meetings.
  • Attend full Planning Committee meetings for Social Justice Week or inform the Faculty/Staff Co-chair if unable to attend.
  • Communicate regularly and consistently with Faculty/Staff co-chairs and respond to emails and other communications in a timely manner.
  • Work with Faculty/Staff co-chair to communicate with subcommittee members and other members of the University community as needed.
  • Complete all tasks related to the role and subcommittee through the completion of Social Justice Week and an evaluation period.
  • Maintain confidentiality when dealing with student and University information.
  • Report any misconduct or concerns that arise during the role.

Requirements

  • Must be a current student at Pace University.
  • Ability to commit to the role for the duration of the Fall semester.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.

  • Previous experience in event planning or leadership roles.
  • Interest in social justice issues and community engagement.
