Position Overview: Lead dynamic instruction for grades 6–12 centered on Social Justice, Civil Rights, and current social events, integrating a strong emphasis on critical reading and academic writing. Administer and analyze assessment data to provide targeted feedback and adapt methods to meet diverse learning needs. Facilitate a rigorous yet supportive learning environment for middle and high school students, utilizing a background in ELA or History to deepen student understanding of systemic social issues. Engage in the school community as a proactive and collaborative member of the educational team, contributing to a positive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
  • New York City Teaching Certificate (Preferred)
  • Non-Certified candidates must hold a minimum of 12 credits in a relevant subject area (ELA, History, or Social Sciences) and provide an official transcript
  • 1-2 years of high school teaching experience; specific experience with complex historical and social justice concepts to secondary-age students (Highly Preferred)
