About The Position

Job Title: Social Emotional Learning Assistant Program: Thrive to Five Classification: Non-Exempt/Full Time Location: This position requires travel to different locations throughout Lancaster County.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Child Development Associate Credential OR is working toward credential within 2 years after beginning employment in this position
  • at least 2 years' experience working with at-risk preschool children

Responsibilities

  • Follows schedules/daily routines and lesson plans of each classroom where assigned.
  • Follows all safety and health procedures and systems, i.e. child count system.
  • Uses positive guidance techniques for children by implementing the Responsive Scale of Discipline and implementing trauma-informed strategies.
  • Makes visual supports for individual classrooms and at the center level.
  • Works in assigned classrooms to support classroom staff and children with high needs.
  • Assists the Early Childhood Behavior Specialists and Social-Emotional Learning Coaches in entering BIRs into BIR database.
  • Makes visual supports for individual children at the targeted and tertiary level.
  • Implements their assigned role in Teacher Support Plans and/or Behavior Support Plans.
  • Collects data on the challenging behavior and targeted replacement behavior as outlined in the Teacher Support Plan.
  • Makes visual supports for individual children needing personalized visual supports to meet their needs as outlined in their Individualized Education Plan. Follows the strategies outlined in children’s Individualized Education Plan.
  • Provides supports in classrooms where there are a high number of children with involved Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) needing personalized supports.
  • Assists the Social-Emotional Learning Coaches in implementing program workshops around PBIS.
  • When appropriate, participates in the multi-disciplinary team meetings.
  • When appropriate, attends Home Visits with the Social-Emotional Learning Coaches.
