About The Position

The Social Day Program Assistant assists the Program Manager in executing a variety of regular weekly or monthly activities. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties.

Requirements

  • High School degree or equivalent with one to three (1-3) years related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Must have experience working with people with Alzheimer's Disease.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a CORI/SORI and background check.
  • Some knowledge and/or training in gerontology or social services.
  • Ability to meet and deal with program members and their families effectively and appropriately; ability to handle problems and emergencies effectively; ability to relate to older adults in a comfortable fashion with genuine interest, compassion and concern for their needs and feelings; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; ability to operate a computer; ability to maintain confidential information; ability to deal with members that are experiencing behavioral challenges.
  • Basic organizational skills; basic data processing skill in the use of personal computers.
  • Moderate physical demands are required to perform the work. Work effort principally involves sitting to perform work tasks, with intermittent periods of stooping, walking, and standing. There may also be some occasional lifting of objects such as office equipment, tables and chairs. The job requires energy and stamina to meet the needs of the members for a 6-hour time period.
  • Duties are largely mental rather than physical, but the job may occasionally require moderate motor skills for activities such as moving objects, operating a telephone system, computer and/or most other office equipment, typing and/or word processing, filing, and sorting of paper.
  • Position requires the employee to occasionally read documents and reports for understanding and analytical purposes.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Social Day Program Manager in the execution of activities.
  • Able to lead the program in the Manager’s absence.
  • Able to use Smart Technology to co-facilitate programs.
  • Prepares monthly calendar.
  • Inputs attendance using Schedules Plus.
  • Creates invoices and posts payments for participants.
  • Creates monthly reports that are submitted to Director for meal and transportation reimbursement.
  • Type and mail letters to families as needed.
  • Maintains safety for all members at all times.
  • Communicates with participants in a comfortable fashion with genuine interest, compassion and concern for their needs and feelings.
  • Maintains good communication with caregivers.
  • Provides guidance to the volunteers who assist with the program activities.
  • Oversees the program and preforms all related duties in the Program Manager's absence.
