About The Position

CORLANN is inviting applications for permanent Social Care Worker positions in Limerick City and West Limerick (Newcastle West / Abbeyfeale, Liosmor, Askeaton). Working with Brothers of Charity Ireland, the organization supports people with intellectual disabilities to be valued citizens in their local community, fostering ordinary life experiences and strong connections with family and friends. The role seeks bright, ambitious individuals with a positive attitude towards working with persons with an intellectual disability, committed to ensuring they lead normal and enjoyable lives. Social Care Workers fulfill a key supportive and advocative role, focusing on individuals' abilities, promoting independence and skill development, and assisting with daily practical tasks. They support the development of person-centered plans, help achieve associated outcomes, and empower individuals to make informed choices and fulfill their potential. The role also involves encouraging community participation through inclusive thinking, seeking new experiences, and promoting positive risk-taking.

Requirements

  • Hold a recognised qualification and have eligibility to register as a Social Care Worker according to CORU registration requirements.
  • Hold a full manual driving license which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfil a key worker supportive and advocative role for individuals supported by the service.
  • Support the person in all aspects of their life focusing on the individual's ability and promoting independence and development of skills at all times.
  • Assist in all aspects of the practical tasks associated with the daily life of the person supported.
  • Assist and support people who use the service with development of their individual person centred plans and the achievement of associated outcomes.
  • Support people who use the service to make informed choices and fulfil their potential.
  • Encourage participation in the community through inclusive and creative thinking.
  • Seek opportunities for new experiences and encourage positive risk taking in leading to informed choices.
