About The Position

The Wiz Kids Foundation is seeking an enthusiastic professional to coordinate soccer-related activities during the summer camp session. The Soccer Head Coach is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day implementation of the soccer program and curriculum. Coaches serve as the primary instructors for teaching fundamental skills as well as more advanced strategy. The Head Coaches should be passionate about their sport and love working with young athletes ranging from grades 1st through 8th. In addition to leading the soccer program, the Soccer Head Coach will work alongside Assistant Coaches and are in a position to offer guidance and feedback, in addition to functioning as their director supervisor. (Assistant Coaches, also called Associates, have the dual role of serving as chaperones, supervising and guiding campers through the day‐to-day activities of the overall camp experience). Will serve as one of the group heads and is responsible for execution of daily skill and scrimmage sessions. Develop and lead daily sport-specific drill and game components. Communicate equipment and facility needs to camp leadership staff. Create and maintain collaborative relationships with other staff members. Ensure the welfare of campers and positive resolution of camper related issues by communicating clearly and consistently with camp leadership staff. Arrange in-camp competition programming for campers grades 3 to 11 against competing programs. Willingness to comply with Suspected Child Abuse Reporting (Subsection (a)(6) of 325 ILCS 5-4). Additional duties as contracted.

Requirements

  • Prior soccer related head coaching experience at the elementary or high school level.

Nice To Haves

  • Coaching certification in the sport of soccer or an advanced degree in Sports Administration is highly preferred.
