About The Position

The After-School Athletics Coach provides structured, supportive coaching to elementary and middle school student-athletes in a variety of sports. The coach is responsible for developing skills, promoting sportsmanship, and fostering team culture during after-school practices and competitions. Coaches play a vital role in supporting Pegasus students’ physical and social-emotional development.

Requirements

Prior coaching experience or strong understanding of the sport.
Passion for mentoring elementary and middle school students.
Ability to lead structured, inclusive practices.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Knowledge of age-appropriate coaching methods.
Committed to creating a positive, respectful team environment.

Nice To Haves

CPR/First Aid certification preferred (training available if needed).

Responsibilities

Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate practices.
Teach fundamental skills, techniques, and sport-specific strategies.
Support individual athlete development and instill a love of the game.
Promote teamwork, inclusion, and personal responsibility.
Reinforce positive behavior and encourage a growth mindset.
Model respect, integrity, and sportsmanship.
Supervise athletes during practices and games.
Collaborate with the Athletics and Activities Director regarding schedules and logistics.
Communicate regularly with students and families.
Ensure all activities follow school safety guidelines.
Respond appropriately to injuries and emergencies.
Maintain appropriate supervision and equipment checks.
Convey a positive image of The Pegasus School at all times when working with students, parents, employees and the public.
