The Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Operator works onsite and in-person at our manufacturing facility in New Paris, IN and is responsible for the SMT machinery setup, operation, maintenance, and repair. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Setup and operate the SMT Oven, Paste Machine, and Component Placement equipment. Perform Fine Pitch inspection. Perform changeovers following the procedures and guidelines outlined in the operating procedure which includes selecting the correct program to run from the database and placing or changing component reels in the required location. Verify that first board runs, after a new setup, meet quality requirements. Perform basic trouble shooting of equipment. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment. Has the responsibility and authority to bring attention to a problem that would compromise the quality of parts or the safety of employees. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Less than High school education; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. COMPUTER SKILLS Individuals should have a basic understanding of computer operation to select the SMT programs to run from a database. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and part prints. Ability to enter production information in Epicor system. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one discussions with supervisor and co-workers. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract multi-digit numbers. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form. Ability to communicate complex issues in a concise, understandable, and interesting way. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS The ability to use small hand tools and power screw guns. The ability to use soldering tools, with training.
