As a SMT Engineer on our team, you'll be responsible for coordinating the SMT efforts on new program launches, setting up and/or revising manufacturing processes for current programs. Assisting the manufacturing operations in problem solving and continuous process improvements: Reduced Scrap, Increase OE, Reduced Cycle Time. Documents and presents findings of the improvements to management. Implementing the improvements and it at the floor. Lead SMT process through support manufacturing Operations. Responsible for overseeing tooling, fixture, and gauge design and engineering drawing mark-ups per job launch plans.

  • Coordinate the SMT efforts on new program launches.
  • Set up and/or revise manufacturing processes for current programs.
  • Assist manufacturing operations in problem solving and continuous process improvements.
  • Document and present findings of improvements to management.
  • Implement improvements on the manufacturing floor.
  • Lead SMT process through support of manufacturing operations.
  • Oversee tooling, fixture, and gauge design and engineering drawing mark-ups per job launch plans.
  • Program existing SMT equipment and assist in defect reductions.
  • Support operation of SMT line including solder paste dispensing, inspection, and reflow oven.
  • Develop, program, and improve all SMT processes.
  • Optimize/setup programs to improve equipment efficiencies and output.
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve the manufacturing process and reduce downtime.
  • Maintain and write work instructions, control plans, and process flow documents.
  • Administer and ensure compliance with current safety policies.
  • Perform rework and repair of SMT and through-hole components on PCBs.
  • Inspect and verify component placement and solder quality according to IPC standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of rework performed and communicate status to supervisors.
  • Bachelor of Engineering OR a High School Diploma AND 8+ years' experience as a SMT Engineer in a Clean room plant, preferably Automotive products.
  • Experience with soldering, de-soldering, inspection, and rework of electronic components.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, and rework instructions.
  • Capacity to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and develop process controls.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment in a fast-paced setting.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to motivate and lead others.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of APQP quality principles.
  • Familiarity with TS-16949 IATF.
  • Experience with CQI-17 - Electronic Assembly Manufacturing-Soldering- Special Process Assessments.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley equipment.
