The SMS-Customer Service Specialist I at Sparrow Health System is a vital role responsible for supporting the organization's customer service goals and objectives. This position involves direct interaction with customers to address their needs, relay important information, provide instructions, verify insurance coverage, and resolve various inquiries and issues. The specialist will be the primary point of contact for both incoming telephone inquiries and walk-in customers, ensuring that all interactions are handled in a professional and courteous manner. In this role, the specialist will complete customer orders by selecting appropriate products from the inventory or contacting a Warehouse Technician for assistance if the product is not readily available. A key responsibility includes verifying customers' insurance coverage and ensuring that all related documentation is accurate and complete. The specialist will also input customer and insurance information into the Sparrow Medical Supply database system, making outbound calls to resolve inquiries regarding insurance coverage and to obtain necessary authorizations. Additionally, the specialist will provide instructions on the appropriate use of medical equipment, perform basic fittings for various medical supplies, and seek supervisory assistance for complex customer issues. A thorough understanding of all Level 8 tasks is required, along with a general knowledge of products, pricing, and their locations within the facility. Maintaining the showroom and product shelves in an orderly fashion is also part of the job, along with processing payments and educating customers on their rights and responsibilities as patients or clients. Adherence to Corporate Compliance Policies, including Medicare guidelines, is essential in this role.
