Requirements

  • Honest, trustworthy and reliable.
  • Hardworking.
  • Physical ability to perform heavy work, exerting up to 100lbs of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50lbs force frequently.
  • Comfortable working in extreme heat and cold.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, gauges and test equipment.
  • Must be self-directed and able to satisfactorily complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid US driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The SMRO Decommission Technician is responsible for executing the safe and efficient decommissioning of Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB) contaminated power distribution equipment.
  • Ensures compliance with environmental permits and operational protocols while supporting material recovery and workplace safety.
  • Disassemble PCB power distribution units. Some basic tools may be required to be furnished by the associate.
  • Learn and comply with permit conditions associated with the decommission of PCB contaminated electrical equipment and the operation of the process equipment (Scrap Metal Recovery Oven).
  • Salvage metals and useable parts from decommissioned power distribution units.
  • Handle and dispose of oils, solvents, and other liquid compounds in accordance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Ability to operate hand and pneumatic tools with proficiency.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes and other material handling equipment as needed.
  • Maintain accountability for all shop tools and equipment within assigned work area.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and call-in hours as required.
  • Work requires close interaction with other associates. Must be able to function in a team-oriented environment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace.
  • Package and bale recovered materials for shipment.
  • Load trailers with prepared materials for transport.
