About The Position

The Medical Assistant will perform patient care and collect vital patient information under the general supervision of the Clinic Administrator, Office Manager, Physician, NP, RN, or LPN. Responsibilities include documenting clinic patient care, reviewing and maintaining patient charts per policy, and assisting with the accurate and timely entry of patient data. The workload will be determined by the clinic’s appointment schedule, staffing levels, and the needs and priorities of the outpatient clinics. The Medical Assistant must be willing to be reassigned within the clinic or float to another clinic as needed. Assignments to other clinics will be established by daily reviews of appointment schedules and staffing needs. The position requires up to 40 hours of work per week, with some weekend work potentially required. The Medical Assistant is expected to function within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the clinic and organization.

Responsibilities

  • Document clinic patient care given.
  • Review and maintain patient chart per policy.
  • Assist with accurate and timely entry of patient data, orders, and charges into the computer system.
  • Proper use of medical equipment including BP cuff, stethoscope, EKG machine, electronic thermometer, eye chart/color blindness test, otoscope/ophthalmoscope, and weight scales.
  • Follow policy and procedure for home medication management and reconciliation.
  • Obtain proper signatures and documentation from patients for the release of medical information.
  • Understand lab quality control policies, proficiency testing, and documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors in a professional manner.
  • Help front staff by answering phones, taking accurate messages, filing charts, scheduling appointments, and assisting with other tasks as needed.
  • Attend yearly mandatory education requirements.
