About The Position

Liberty Senior Living is currently seeking an experienced SUPPORTIVE CARE AIDE. This is a newly created position that operates on a per diem basis during the day, specifically for 12-hour shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM. The role involves safeguarding all residents' rights, treating individuals with dignity and respect, and maintaining confidentiality of resident and company-related information. The Supportive Care Aide will prioritize residents' needs and assist with various tasks including monitoring residents with behavioral challenges, answering call lights, providing hydration, tidying rooms, and offering companionship. The aide will also assist with transporting residents to activities, meal preparation, and reporting any resident concerns to the charge nurse.

Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Prefer one-year experience working with older adults or a related field, not required.
  • Proven ability to read and write English sufficient to understand business correspondence and policy statements.
  • Ability to speak clearly with correct pronunciation and communicate effectively with staff, families, and residents.

Responsibilities

  • Safeguards all residents' rights.
  • Treats all individuals with dignity and respect, maintaining a positive attitude and pleasant tone of voice.
  • Maintains confidentiality of resident and company-related information.
  • Prioritizes residents' needs and assists with various tasks.
  • Provides 1:1 monitoring of residents that require monitoring due to behavioral challenges or socialization.
  • Answers call lights and assists with needs if not care related.
  • Passes ice/fluids for hydration, replacing thickened liquids and ice in coolers.
  • Makes beds and tidies rooms.
  • Bags and labels personal items.
  • Labels and stores bed pans per facility protocol.
  • Provides companionship to residents as needed for emotional and supportive services.
  • Restocks supplies.
  • May assist with grooming, shaving, and brushing teeth as needed, if trained to do so.
  • Assists staff in transporting residents to activities and carrying out scheduled activities.
  • Assists with meal and snack preparation as needed, including clean up.
  • May assist with feeding after completing State approved feeding assistant course.
  • Reports any resident concerns to charge nurse.
  • Reports maintenance issues immediately to ensure safety of residents and staff.
  • Maintains positive relationships with residents, families, co-workers, volunteers, and facility representatives.
  • Participates in regular staff training and in-service education as directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
