About The Position

The SmithGroup Design a Better Future Scholarship is designed to support and mentor students in various fields including architecture, interior design, urban planning, landscape architecture, and engineering (civil/structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection). The program aims to provide students with the opportunity to achieve their professional goals while contributing to the architecture/engineering/construction (AEC) industry and enhancing the built environment. This scholarship includes a one-time award of $6,000 to help offset tuition costs at their current academic institution, with five scholarships awarded each year, along with a paid summer internship at a SmithGroup office in the United States. The initiative encourages students who are committed to fostering inclusion within their university, community, and/or the AEC industry to apply.

Requirements

• Current undergraduate (at least junior level standing) or graduate student in an accredited architecture, interior design, urban planning, landscape architecture, or engineering program in the United States.
• Enrolled student during the Fall 2026 semester as scholarships are paid directly to the academic institution.
• Available for a paid summer internship.
• Current GPA of 3.0 or better.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
