Position Overview The Systems Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides senior-level engineering expertise in telecommunications systems and/or Voice Control Switch (VCS) environments. This role is responsible for developing site survey and installation design packages in close coordination with customers, vendors, and installation teams. The SME plays a key role in maintaining the technical baseline, ensuring system designs meet evolving operational needs while supporting scalability and integration with next-generation platforms.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 16 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 14 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 10 years with Ph.D., 20 years in lieu of degree
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Senior-level experience in telecommunications systems engineering and/or Voice Control Switch (VCS) systems
  • Experience supporting site surveys and installation design efforts
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, integration, and technical baseline control
  • Experience developing or updating enterprise architecture documentation
  • Familiarity with system lifecycle reviews and configuration audits

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support site surveys and development of installation design packages
  • Coordinate technical efforts with customers, vendors, and installation teams to ensure successful system deployment
  • Ensure designs align with operational requirements, performance needs, and future scalability
  • Update and maintain enterprise architecture artifacts developed by the customer
  • Map: Physical system nodes Information flows System boundaries
  • Ensure architecture artifacts support the customer’s next-generation objectives
  • Promote compatibility with common automation platforms, where applicable
  • Ensure system implementation aligns with the approved technical baseline and system requirements
  • Support verification that designs, configurations, and deployments meet contractual and technical specifications
  • Participate in formal project reviews as required by the customer, including: Requirements Reviews (RRs) Preliminary Design Review (PDR) Critical Design Review (CDR) Functional Configuration Audit (FCA) Physical Configuration Audit (PCA) Test Readiness Review (TRR)
