About The Position

The Smallwares Manager is responsible for receiving products and ensuring that aisles are stocked, labeled, clean, and that delivered products are packed out. This position requires a significant amount of manual labor, comprising 50% or more of the job. The manager will ensure proper customer service and develop relationships with customers while supervising the Smallwares Supervisor and Stockers to maintain stocked shelves and merchandise rotation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, OR High School Diploma OR GED with at least 4 years of experience in customer service, OR any appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, mass, and volume.
  • Proven leadership skills; ability to supervise and direct employees.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Commitment to company values and strong customer orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper customer service and develop relationships with customers.
  • Supervise and work with Smallwares Supervisor and Stockers to assure shelves are stocked and merchandise is rotated.
  • Assist in developing schedules, monitor performance, and recommend appropriate discipline including termination.
  • Train employees in job responsibilities and safe operating procedures.
  • Interview candidates and recommend hires.
  • Review inventory for product rotation daily to prevent shrinkage and damages.
  • Rotate products as needed.
  • Ensure shelf pricing is correct and reflects the most recent pricing and market conditions.
  • Supervise and work alongside Stockers in receiving all smallwares products and ensure proper paperwork is completed.
  • Physically break down pallets, stock products, and organize displays.
  • Maintain accurate computer inventory levels through regular physical inventories and adjustments.
  • Supervise ordering of smallwares products from vendors to ensure competitive pricing and minimal shrink due to expirations.
  • Coordinate that pallets stored in racks have proper block and date tags.
  • Follow a program to maintain cleanliness of the area with a regular maintenance schedule.
  • Ensure excess inventory not slotted on the floor is stacked in overhead racks near where it is sold.
  • Assure trash is removed from the floor and properly handled.
  • Communicate low stock/out of stock information to the inventory controller after checking the system and rack.
  • Maintain correct signage and ensure flyer prices are reflected on products.
  • Coordinate proper merchandising of aisles and creatively set up impulse areas for merchandising.
  • Perform weekly self-audits.
  • Perform additional duties, responsibilities, and projects as assigned.
