About The Position

Small vehicle operators are responsible for transporting passengers for the eRide on demand service. Small Vehicle Operators are responsible for the safety of the vehicle and its passengers, ensuring timely transportation to their destination and providing excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and no recent traffic violations.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain insurability standards as set by TCAT’s insurance carrier.
  • Subject to post-offer, pre-employment drug test and remain subject to random drug and alcohol testing per federal regulations.
  • Subject to post-offer, pre-employment background check and Department of Transportation physical.
  • Comfortable operating fully electric vehicles and using EV charging stations.
  • Ability to learn safe driving practices and applicable traffic laws and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use smartphones, iPads, and software for routing and communication.
  • Must be able to work independently and remain professional under pressure.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and early mornings.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment that can be fast-paced at times and slow at others.
  • Ability to arrive on time to work.

Responsibilities

  • Report to work on time and ready to operate a variety of electric vehicles, including large vans.
  • Provide safe, timely, and courteous transportation to passengers requesting a ride.
  • Access and respond to ride requests using the dispatching app.
  • Perform inspections of the vehicle and equipment as outlined in training.
  • Utilize GPS navigation for passenger transport.
  • Assist passengers with boarding, exiting, and loading/unloading luggage as outlined in training.
  • Operate mobility device lifts on accessible vehicles providing a safe and welcoming environment for all passengers.
  • Process fare payments through exact cash fare and adhere to company cash handling policy.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional vehicle environment at all times.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with passengers about ride details and locations.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and maintain a positive, professional attitude.
  • Receive and respond to passenger feedback through the Spare app.
  • Report any defects or deficiencies discovered while driving that could affect the safe operations of the vehicle, or something that may result in a breakdown
  • Communicate and report any customer issues, accidents or related events as outlined in TCAT policies.
  • Responsible for maintaining charged care battery throughout shift, communicating to Supervisors when a charge is needed, plugging into charging stations.
  • Comply with hygiene and TCAT’s uniform policy.
