The Small Format Team Leader at Target is responsible for ensuring an exceptional guest experience in the smallest format stores. This role involves overseeing daily operations, managing team members, and executing sales strategies to meet store goals. The Team Leader will focus on guest service, inventory management, and operational efficiency while fostering a positive team environment.

  • Understand sales goals and plan daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement.
  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience and model expectations for team members.
  • Ensure product is in stock, available, accurately priced, and signed on the sales floor.
  • Execute inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes for assigned departments.
  • Help create a scheduling plan based on monthly and weekly business workload and guest traffic.
  • Work a schedule that aligns with guest and business needs, including early morning, evening, overnight shifts, and weekends.
  • Lead team members in backroom and sales floor areas, reviewing reporting to identify gaps and develop plans to resolve them.
  • Enable efficient delivery to guests by leading pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work as applicable.
  • Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team.
  • Participate in team onboarding and learning, closing knowledge and skill gaps through training and experiences.
  • Establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable to them.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development and modeling inclusive behaviors.
  • Lead a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance, holding the team accountable to work safely.
  • Address store needs such as emergency and regulatory visits.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
  • Learn and adapt to current technology needs.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
