About The Position

Teufel Landscape is a fast-growing commercial landscape maintenance and construction company seeking a Small Engine Mechanic to join our team. This individual will work onsite at our Holly Farms shop, supporting our Construction and Maintenance divisions by maintaining and repairing a variety of small engine equipment. We are looking for a detail-oriented, mechanically inclined professional with expertise in small engine repair and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Small Engine Mechanic or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of two-stroke and four-stroke engines, fuel systems, and ignition components.
  • Expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues efficiently, minimizing equipment downtime.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools for repairs and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with brands such as Stihl, Echo, Honda, Toro, Exmark, and John Deere, ensuring proper repair techniques for industry-standard equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate service records for all equipment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with crews and provide guidance on proper equipment handling.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and prioritize workloads effectively.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair small engine equipment, including commercial mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, edgers, aerators, and other landscaping tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and belt inspections to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve engine performance issues, electrical problems, and fuel system malfunctions using diagnostic tools and technical expertise.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan while maintaining detailed service records.
  • Work closely with the field crews and management to prioritize repairs, minimizing downtime and ensuring safe operation.
  • Keep the shop organized and ensure tools and equipment are in proper working order, demonstrating strong hand and power tool proficiency.
  • Follow safety protocols and industry standards, emphasizing workplace safety awareness and adherence to proper repair procedures.
  • Assist in training operators on proper equipment use, basic troubleshooting, and maintenance best practices.
