About The Position

LSI is in search for a small engine mechanic to join our team. Mechanic inspects, maintains, and repairs lawn mowers and other small engine outdoor equipment by diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, replacing faulty parts, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring all equipment runs safely and efficiently. Key duties include troubleshooting, performing seasonal tune-ups, sharpening blades, and interacting with other team members to explain repair needs.

Requirements

Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of how lawn mowers and other small engines work.
Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to diagnose and solve mechanical and electrical issues effectively.
Tool Proficiency: Skillful use of the tools and equipment necessary for small engine repair.
Physical Demands: Ability to handle heavy equipment, stand or bend for extended periods, and work in potentially noisy and dirty environments.
Detail-Oriented: Precision and attention to detail are crucial for high-quality repair work.
Communication Skills: Good interpersonal skills to interact with team members and understand their needs.

Responsibilities

Diagnosis: Running diagnostic tests to identify mechanical, electrical, or functional problems in lawn mowers and other small engine equipment.
Repair & Replacement: Repairing or replacing worn-out or broken parts, such as engines, fuel systems, blades, pullies, belts, and other components.
Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance like oil changes, fluid checks, blade sharpening, and other necessary servicing to ensure optimal performance.
Testing: Testing repaired machines to confirm they are running efficiently, safely, and meet manufacturer and company specifications.
Internal Communication: Able to communicate effectively issues with equipment to internal stakeholders. This communication will follow a standard set by the department head and will be routinely revisited to ensure compliance.
