About The Position

The Small Cell Technician works in a team environment on the construction of small cell sites. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to installation of 4G and 5G antenna components, radio components, RF cabling, AC/DC wiring, various telecommunications equipment, fiber optics and overall testing.

Requirements

  • Have knowledge of and ability to meet and pass all DOT requirements
  • Highschool diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to take and understand written and verbal direction. Ability to take and understand written and verbal direction.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding construction drawing and support documentation, RF data sheets, and basic electrical concepts. be able to communicate both verbally and electronically.
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Hard working and self-motivated
  • Ability to work at heights greater than 20 ft.
  • Ability to operate power tools and hand tools.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions except for unsafe or extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel and work in remote locations outside of the metropolitan area.
  • Desire and ability to climb structures to heights in excess of 300’ while carrying loads in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Full-time, 40 hours/week
  • Travel is required 50% of the time

Nice To Haves

  • Telecom test gear knowledge a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of knots and tower riggings preferred.
  • Computer , Smart Phone, and Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation of required small cell equipment, including, but not limited to, masts, clamping, bracing, supports, antennas, remote radio units, cabling, and small scope civil CX including concrete.
  • Assist with the assembly of small cell and RF equipment on poles.
  • Assist with the installation, testing, and repair of transmission and fiber and power conductors .
  • Perform tower construction activities including assembling/erecting towers, installing antennas, mounting hardware, installing coax and connectors, grounding, testing, positioning, and optimizing antennas and lines.
  • Work with basic hand tools and safety equipment. Telecom test gear knowledge a plus.
  • Basic electronic knowledge
  • Utilize PPE in compliance with EHS requirements and industry standards
  • Assist with testing of new and existing equipment. May include sweep, PIM, or fiber testing.
  • Maintain OSHA safety requirements at all times with the ability to follow EHS procedures and protocol
  • Installation of RF and antenna system components such as (antennas, TMA's, RRU's, diplexers, coax, hybrids, grounding, supports, weatherproofing, connectors, hardware, etc.)
  • Understanding and ability to process RFDS and read and execute construction drawings.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance
  • Coordinate with other technicians and engineers to ensure proper system operation
