About The Position

The Small Business Underwriter Trainee role begins in June 2026 as part of a 6-month structured training program designed to equip early-career professionals with the essential business, analytical, and technical skills needed to build a successful career in E&S underwriting. Training includes classroom sessions, directed self-study, participation in a corporate program tailored to the E&S segment of WRB Companies, and hands-on learning through immersive exposure to real underwriting activities. Upon successful completion of the program, trainees will transition into a Small Business Underwriter role with delegated underwriting authority on an assigned team. The Trainee will support underwriting activities by participating in daily team operations, assisting underwriters with exposure and risk analysis, contacting agents for submissions, and joining external marketing calls. Under supervision, the Trainee will develop working knowledge of small business underwriting, E&S market dynamics, workflow processes, pricing tools, and systems. Decision-making authority will expand as competency is demonstrated, ultimately preparing them for transition to a full underwriting role.
