About The Position

Provides relationship management support, managing workout loans, developing strategy for overall portfolio, to Small Business in monitoring and servicing an existing exceptions managed portfolio of loans. Continuously evaluates exceptions-based portfolio performance to maintain portfolio quality and risk rating accuracy. Interacts with customers as well as bank employees and legal counsel to address credit and deposit service-related matters in a satisfactory manner.

Requirements

  • BS in accounting, finance, economics or business administration preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Continuing education in bank- related courses
  • 5+ years’ experience in credit analysis or risk underwriting in the banking industry
  • Ability to prioritize and work under pressure
  • Critical thinking and management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to execute
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Computer skills including web-based searches
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Solid interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • A key member of the Small Business Leadership Team to help with new product creation, technology enhancements, and future growth of Small Business.
  • Manages line renewals, maturing loans, modifications, extensions, releases, annual reviews and assignments in a defined portfolio of existing Small Business customers with borrowing needs up to a maximum $500K in relationship size. Product mix to include C&I and CRE, SBA and non-SBA products.
  • Approves and denies line renewals, modifications within authorized limits.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with all lines of business within the Bank to ensure accuracy in timely manner on loan renewals/modifications being facilitated.
  • Assist the small business underwriting team in facilitating writeups for modifications.
  • Assists with managing delinquency with the Special Assets Team. Monitors overdrafts, score alerts, highline use of borrowers to carefully assign risk ratings to ensure early detection of material changes in customer performance.
  • Works with large portfolio of SBA loans to ensure following of SBA Policy and Procedure. Monthly review of proper line utilization and term out of such lines if needed. Responsible for monthly review of all new SBA loans for fraud detection. Responsible for keeping abreast of changes in SBA policy and offering guidance on changing process in from application to post close. SBA requires specialized knowledge and industry expertise.
  • Reports to management trends in portfolio, helps to create change in process and policy, and creates procedures to be pro-active in managing this portfolio. Will be involved in the compliance and audit findings and recommended changes to policy and procedure.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as requested.
  • Ensures compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies/practices/procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards related to and required by one’s duties.
