About The Position

The Small Business Loan Specialist supports the Small Business Express loans and SBA loans. The role is responsible for ensuring Small Business Express loans from our branches are processed, closed and QC accurately. Additionally for our SBA loans, the specialist would provide consistent communication with SBA, fulfilment of SBA requests, and coordinating with teammates to meet these needs. Responsibilities include tasks within multiple workflows and systems, including the maintenance of operational controls that satisfy all Company Policy, procedures, and regulations. Along with the key functions listed below, this position will be expected to uphold the value that WaFd Bank places on simply being kind when servicing our co-workers and clients.

Requirements

• High school diploma, on-the-job training, and ongoing education.
• 1-3+ years of experience in: Commercial or consumer loan processing, closing or underwriting. Banking or Financial services. Experience working with loan documentation systems and workflow tools is also valuable.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple loans and processes at once
• Knowledge of bank policies, regulations, and compliance requirements
• Proficiency with systems like LOS (Loan Origination Systems), and general office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Excellent communication skills, especially for coordinating between SBA, internal teams, and possibly clients
• Understanding of loan documentation, funding, closing, and quality control

Responsibilities

• Process, document, close and provide quality control assistance on our Small Business Express product that are generated by our Business Banking branches
• Facilitate consistent and clear communication between our branches and our internal teams to ensure seamless operations
• Complete LaserPro loan documents in support of our Small Business Express products.
• Accurately execute maintenance of loan files, including documentation and record-keeping in accordance with regulations and organizational standards.
• Facilitate consistent and clear communication between SBA, and internal teams to ensure seamless operations.
• Complete LaserPro loan documents.
• Track, manage, and resolve SBA documentation requests in support of SBA loan.
• Serve as a key resource for teammates and other departments, providing guidance and information on small business and SBA lending.
• Oversee the efficient and accurate processing of small business and SBA requisitions and related tasks.
• Handle complex quality control issues and situations, providing solutions that align with policy and regulatory requirements.
• Follow established processes and standards to comply with relevant regulations and company policies.
• Promptly review changes in policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure processes are being completed accurately.
• Stay current with industry trends, SBA regulations, and bond lending best practices through continuous education, training, and professional development opportunities as provided by the department and bank.
• Adhere to and ensure adherence to bank policies and procedures designed to comply with Federal regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act and OFAC regulations. To that end, ensure timely and accurate preparation of Currency Transaction Reports, Suspicious Activity Reports and other recordkeeping requirements.
• Complete and pass all assigned eLearning courses and certifications as required.
• Avoid all real or perceived conflicts of interest and always maintain client privacy and confidentiality.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
