About The Position

As a member of the coaching team, you will join an incredibly talented and hardworking Entrepreneur Connection team dedicated to providing resources, education, and connection to capital to entrepreneurs looking to build a successful business and improve their financial well-being to advance BakerRipley’s impact in the Houston region. Expected Positive Outcomes ● Under the direction of the Program manager, the Small Business Coach will provide technical assistance, which includes coaching, advising and supporting local small businesses. Builds relationships with entrepreneurs to assist them with action planning and any needs that are within our services. Also supporting them through resources within other agency programs or with outside partners. ● Creates and builds relationships with key stakeholders in the communities we serve including but not limited to capital providers, education agencies, county and city organizations and more. ● Assist with leading and supporting the program with workshops, events and classes. Including creation of workshops that are needed within the community. ● Tracking and reporting hours monthly of technical assistance and coaching provided to clients through meetings and events. Including tracking client success stories on a quarterly basis. ● Lead workshops and occasionally sub for classes on various business topics as well as any team events including our annual business pitch competition ● Partner and build relationships with East Aldine stakeholders JOB FUNCTIONS Benchmark Job x Remote Work Eligible x Essential Functions Essential Function Two primary roles: Provide technical assistance, including guidance in the creation of feasibility studies and business plans and advice on key opportunities and challenges, to program participants Lead workshops and occasionally sub for classes on various business topics as well as any team events including our annual business pitch competition Partner and build relationships with community stakeholders Other duties: ● Prepare entrepreneurs for the process of seeking appropriate capital to build and grow their business ● Keep up-to-date with current entrepreneurial trends, market opportunities and skills training ● Collaborate with partners, chambers of commerce, local economic development agencies and capital providers ● Build and maintain close professional relationships with small businesses throughout our targeted neighborhoods. ● Work in partnership with team to plan and implement special events, including our annual pitch competition ● Work with Manager to develop new services based on demonstrated client need ● Track program metrics and improve the program’s data-collecting practices ● Assist with recruitment, intake, and ongoing communication with clients who currently own or are interested in starting a business ● Conduct targeted outreach and relationship- building efforts to identify and engage aspiring and existing small business owners, including attending community events, partnering with local organizations and representing the program at workshops and expos. and networking opportunities to increase program visibility and participation Additional Responsibilities Required for All Jobs • Performs other duties as assigned • Complies with all policies and standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree In business or finance
  • 1-3 years
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Consistent discipline in upholding confidentiality and discretion with all sensitive matters
  • COMPUTER PROFICIENCY: • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: • Spanish proficiency required

Nice To Haves

  • At least 2 years of experience working with entrepreneurs preferred; prior experience in the relevant client community or in a similar community
