About the position

The Small Business Banking Credit Manager at Zions Bancorporation plays a crucial role in managing SBA underwriting groups and ensuring the credit quality of the division. This fully remote position involves overseeing credit policies, underwriting production, and maintaining compliance with regulations while supporting performance and budget targets. The manager will also mentor staff, resolve credit-related issues, and enhance customer service within the Business Banking Loan Center.

Responsibilities

  • Manage SBA underwriting groups.
  • Approve, direct, and coordinate credit quality for the division.
  • Implement approved credit policies and oversee overall credit quality, procedures, and processes.
  • Oversee underwriting production and quality while ensuring cost-efficient processes remain in compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Support the achievement of performance and budget targets.
  • Serve as a coach to ensure superior customer service and timely responses to application processing requests and inquiries.
  • Handle and resolve credit-related issues and complaints as needed.
  • Help set strategic direction and advocate for appropriate resources to improve departmental efficiency.
  • Mentor and train employees in credit-related areas.
  • Conduct hiring, firing, and performance reviews of staff.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of SBA lending, business banking, credit analysis, or related experience.
  • Some managerial experience required.
  • Considerable working knowledge of SBA lending, credit analysis, business banking, underwriting, and structuring.
  • Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and federal regulations for conventional and SBA loans.
  • Excellent understanding of credit scoring and its impact on corporate goals.
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of financial statement analysis and credit evaluation methods.
  • Excellent customer relation, problem resolution, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong management skills.
