The Hampton Roads Connector Partners (HRCP), a joint venture consisting of Dragados USA, Flatiron, and VINCI, has been awarded a significant contract by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for a $3.8 billion design-build project. This project is the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by VDOT and encompasses a 9-mile section of the I-64. Key components of the project include the construction of a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing designed to accommodate a total of 8 lanes of traffic, the replacement of existing marine approach bridges, and the addition of a third lane on I-64 in both directions. Notably, the project will feature twin 45-foot diameter tunnels, which will be bored using a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), creating the second largest TBM tunnel opening in North America. The project is expected to continue until the end of 2025, and the Slurry Treatment Plant Operator will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective operation of the plant throughout this period. As a Slurry Treatment Plant Operator, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating plant operations, maintaining a safe and clean environment both inside and outside the plant, and adhering to established plant procedures. You will perform essential tasks such as conducting mud tests, interpreting test results, and adjusting the quality of drilling mud to meet specific parameters and geological conditions. Additionally, you will be accountable for achieving plant production goals and ensuring the quality of muck produced by the slurry plant. This position requires a proactive approach to managing operations and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
