The Slug Support Case Manager at UC Santa Cruz plays a crucial role in supporting students experiencing distress by coordinating responses and integrating campus resources. This position serves as a primary contact for faculty, staff, students, and families concerned about distressed students, ensuring timely intervention and support services. The Case Manager will advocate for students, manage cases, and collaborate with various campus departments to enhance student well-being and success.

  • Provide administrative interface and coordinate with campus partners to integrate resources for students facing challenges.
  • Manage cases of students of concern, gathering information, developing recommendations, and mobilizing appropriate responses.
  • Consult with campus community members about distressed students, providing referrals and developing action plans.
  • Work with campus departments to develop and implement marketing campaigns for student mental health messages.
  • Collaborate with CAPS and other units to provide training and programs on responding to students in distress.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training.
  • Demonstrated experience in crisis management, crisis intervention, and case management with college-age students.
  • Broad knowledge of health care, mental health care, and crisis management prevention.
  • Ability to initiate and coordinate services for students effectively.
  • Outstanding oral, written, and digital communication skills.
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Public Health, or related field.
  • Direct experience working on college campuses with college-age students in a health or mental health setting.
