Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program or a related field.
  • Certification as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLP-A) from a recognized accrediting body.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with children and their families.
  • Knowledge of various speech and language disorders affecting children, as well as treatment techniques and strategies.
  • Proficiency in utilizing therapy materials, tools, and technology to enhance therapy sessions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining accurate records and progress notes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and follow guidance from licensed speech-language pathologists.
  • Compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of children and their families.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of clients and adjust therapy approaches as necessary.
  • Compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations governing speech-language pathology practice.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with licensed speech-language pathologists to implement individualized treatment plans designed to address speech and language disorders in pediatric clients.
  • Assist in conducting assessments and screenings to evaluate the communication and language abilities of children.
  • Work with children individually to facilitate speech and language therapy sessions based on established goals and objectives.
  • Utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques and activities to target specific communication and language challenges, such as articulation, phonology, fluency, language comprehension, and expressive language skills.
  • Help children practice speech and language exercises, articulation drills, and interactive activities in a supportive and engaging manner.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of client progress, session notes, and relevant data to track improvements and modifications in treatment plans.
  • Provide regular feedback to licensed speech-language pathologists on client progress and contribute insights to modify treatment strategies as needed.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other team members to provide guidance, strategies, and support for extending therapy goals into daily routines and activities.
  • Adhere to ethical and professional standards in all interactions and maintain client confidentiality at all times.
