About the position

Join our not-for-profit organization that has provided over 100 years of housing and services to seniors with a commitment to quality care and service in a Christian environment. The position involves administering speech and language evaluations, tests or examinations to diagnose and plan treatments for clients/patients/residents with various speech problems and swallowing disorders. You will assess clients/patients/residents with various speech, language, cognitive or swallowing problems and develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical diagnoses. The role includes providing speech and language services to clients/patients/residents, monitoring disease progression, and adjusting treatments accordingly. You will instruct clients/patients/residents in practicing speech and language therapeutic exercises and provide consultation for clients/patients/residents working through speech and language treatment processes. Ensuring all speech and language related standards, policies, protocols and quality requirements are met is essential. You may treat individuals of all ages with varying diagnosis and disorders and will demonstrate documentation in accordance with departmental guidelines and meet all regulatory requirements. Flexibility with acceptance of variable work schedules/assignments is expected, and participation in activities to promote the department, Good Samaritan Society and Sanford Health is required. Interaction with individuals outside of the department, including providers, case managers, third party payers, and public organizations, will be part of your responsibilities. You may also supervise assistants, aides, and students as they provide client/patient/resident care, treatment, or other services, and will be expected to provide ongoing education and training to peers in the area(s) of expertise as determined by the department leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Administer speech and language evaluations, tests or examinations.
  • Diagnose and plan treatments for clients/patients/residents with speech problems and swallowing disorders.
  • Assess clients/patients/residents with speech, language, cognitive or swallowing problems.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical diagnoses.
  • Provide speech and language services to clients/patients/residents.
  • Monitor disease progression and adjust treatments accordingly.
  • Instruct clients/patients/residents in practicing speech and language therapeutic exercises.
  • Provide consultation for clients/patients/residents working through speech and language treatment processes.
  • Ensure compliance with speech and language related standards, policies, protocols and quality requirements.
  • Demonstrate documentation in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  • Participate in activities to promote the department and organization.
  • Supervise assistants, aides, and students in providing care and treatment.
  • Provide ongoing education and training to peers.

Requirements

  • Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.
  • Must be licensed in the state(s) of practice as Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by ASHA or currently working on Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) (preferred).
  • Valid driver's license may be required when applicable.
  • Obtain and maintain required department specific competencies and certifications.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment.
