About the position

Join our not-for-profit organization that has provided over 100 years of housing and services to seniors with a commitment to quality care and service in a Christian environment. The position involves administering speech and language evaluations, tests or examinations to diagnose and plan treatments for clients/patients/residents with various speech problems and swallowing disorders. You will assess clients/patients/residents with various speech, language, cognitive or swallowing problems and develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical diagnoses. The role includes providing speech and language services to clients/patients/residents, monitoring disease progression, and adjusting treatments accordingly. You will instruct clients/patients/residents in practicing speech and language therapeutic exercises and provide consultation for clients/patients/residents working through speech and language treatment processes. Ensuring all speech and language related standards, policies, protocols and quality requirements are met is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Administer speech and language evaluations, tests or examinations.
  • Diagnose and plan treatments for clients/patients/residents with speech problems and swallowing disorders.
  • Assess clients/patients/residents and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide speech and language services and monitor disease progression.
  • Instruct clients/patients/residents in therapeutic exercises.
  • Provide consultation for clients/patients/residents during treatment processes.
  • Ensure compliance with speech and language standards and policies.
  • Document treatment in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  • Participate in activities to promote the department and organization.
  • Interact with external individuals including providers and case managers.
  • Supervise assistants, aides, and students in client care.
  • Provide ongoing education and training to peers.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by manager.

Requirements

  • Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.
  • Must be licensed in the state(s) of practice as Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Preferred: Holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by ASHA or currently working on Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
  • Valid driver's license may be required when applicable.
  • Obtain and maintain required department specific competencies and certifications.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment.
