About The Position

Atlas Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking a Slitter Operator for our facility in Blytheville, AR. Reporting to the Mill Supervisor, the Slitter Operator is responsible for preparing and processing master coils to produce slit coils that meet mill requirements. This role is ideal for individuals with mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety. Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Slitter experience preferred.
  • Tube mill manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use micrometers and calipers.
  • Licensed to operate overhead cranes and/or hi-los (forklift).
  • Proficient in mobile equipment operation and/or crane.
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions; basic computer skills; able to read measuring devices and perform basic math.
  • Strong listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Visual acuity to read and record numerical data accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Moves master coils to designated areas using overhead cranes and/or assigned mobile equipment.
  • Prepares master coils for slitting and ensures proper sizing and gauging by performing width and gauge checks.
  • Operates entry equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Operates overhead cranes and hi-los as required.
  • Assists in slitter changeovers to maintain production flow.
  • Removes scrap material as needed.
  • Completes all required paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Performs daily preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Reports irregularities or malfunctions to managers and/or maintenance.
  • Assists maintenance personnel with repairs as needed.
  • Supports other operators during breakdowns, bottlenecks, and scheduled downtime.
  • Keeps the work area clean and orderly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Mill Supervisor.
  • Adheres to company safety policies and reports unsafe conditions.
  • Leads and promotes health and safety work practices in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule.
