About The Position

Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, this individual will be responsible for properly setting up their machine to the specifications of the sales orders, or the job traveler and the material being run should match up with the sales order and travelers. They will be responsible for training their helper to safely assist in getting all the packaging materials needed to complete their orders to the specifications of our customers and be able to run efficiently and safely. The role also involves various duties such as understanding sales orders and customer packaging requirements, machine cleaning, blade maintenance, data collection in Epicor software, managing material inventory, creating part labels, verifying shipment entries, handling materials with specific heating requirements, and reinforcing skids using power and pneumatic tools.

Requirements

  • Operate safely with a hot glue gun.
  • Operate an electric or manual hand jack.
  • Operate a banding gun.
  • Operate a hoist system for lifting rolls that are larger than what can be lifted by hand.
  • Good oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and interested in learning other positions.
  • Good understanding of basic math skills (+, -, x, /).
  • Ability to accurately use a tape measure.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Must work well with others in a team atmosphere.
  • Excellent attendance.
  • Detail / Quality oriented.
  • Able to maintain a clean work area.
  • Be a safety conscious individual who takes their time to do all duties properly and safely.
  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Clock in upon arrival, and clock out when leaving GF property.
  • Understand sales orders / job travelers that pertains to them as being both an operator and packager.
  • Knowledge and understanding of how our customers want their products packaged and placed on pallets using our Customer Packaging Book for reference.
  • Proper cleaning of the whole machine when needed to ensure quality of material and longevity of the machine.
  • Know how to tell if cutting blades are getting dull and be able to replace with sharpened ones.
  • Practice proper data collection in Epicor software.
  • Clock into and out of jobs.
  • Claim the correct number of rolls ran.
  • If rolls are stocked, receive the correct number of rolls into inventory.
  • Issue out the correct amount of material used to complete the job.
  • Make sure that if material is being run into stock there is a job. If one needs to be made, have knowledge of our quick job entry or communicate with supervisor to make a job traveler.
  • Understand how to make part labels with Epicor, Bartender Print Station, and Label Matrix.
  • Look at Customer Shipment Entry Dashboard to verify if they need to find a partial skid to add to, or if they need to start a new skid for the part that is scheduled.
  • Have knowledge of which materials get heated and which ones don't get heated.
  • Knowledge of why and how to reinforce skids when needed, while safely using power tools and pneumatic tools.
