About The Position

Printpack Bloomington is looking for candidates to fill a Slitter Operator position on weekend days. An ideal applicant is reliable and able to work with attention to detail and safety standards. Being a team player is essential since all tasks will require close collaboration with co-workers. Good attendance is a must. This position will work a 12-hour night shift (7AM-7PM) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for a total of 36 hours a week (work 36 get paid for 40). Pay for this position will be $21.77.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Stable work history
  • K nowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong time management skills and ability to follow instructions
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot problems
  • Must have the ability to accurately read a tape measure
  • Manufacturing/machine operation experience
  • Physical Demands:
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to climb, kneel, bend, squat
  • Must be able to grasp, push, pull and have fine motor skills
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to wear PPE including but not limited to hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses

Responsibilities

  • Operate slitter in order to: Ensure safety
  • Perform to quality, waste, and production standards and goals
  • Meet or exceed the customers' (both internal and external) expectations
  • Meet the highest of quality standards
  • Communicate orally and/or in writing to other departments for resolution of mechanical problems, reporting defective material, coordination of job preparations, changeovers and daily shift information
  • Input production data to a computer accurately and timely to include waste, WIP, time codes, raw materials, etc.
  • Ensure your own safety while operating the machine and that of those assisting with operations
  • Prepare master rolls for slitting
  • Place rolls in machine and prepare for splicing
  • Properly segregate and label all materials (as appropriate) – for work in process, rewinds, trash, and hold)
  • Assist in removing rolls from rewind (as necessary)
  • Remove and weigh startup rolls/materials at beginning of job
  • Perform daily housekeeping duties to keep area clean and organized during setup, run and end of shift
  • Remove and weigh all waste.
