About The Position

The primary role of the Slitter Operator is responsibility for setting-up and operating slitting machine to cut rolls of stock to specifications to ensure optimum safety, quality and production while minimizing cost, energy, and waste in our team-based environment.

Requirements

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • HS diploma or equivalent/Technical experience
  • Vision requirements of the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus to perform all functions safely
  • Must have the ability to distinguish color, must pass a color blindness test.
  • Regular attendance.
  • Frequent interaction with others.
  • Must have the ability to work in a team-based environment, assist others when needed and lead by example while focusing on safety, quality and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Support Environmental Health & Safety for the facility, following all current policies and procedures and making an effort to improve the Environmental Health and Safety performance of our facility.
  • Set-up and operate slitter machines to efficiency, quality and waste specifications.
  • Maintain visual workplace standards
  • Complete required paperwork including visual check sheets and run condition sheets
  • Monitors and maintains quality by removing flag defects
  • Operate safely hoists and pallet jacks
  • Meets established percent of target production goals
  • Generates and completes necessary paper work and forms to include AIMS
  • Actively participate in all Continuous Improvement, Safety and Quality initiatives
  • Involvement and support of continuous improvement as assigned to teams, roles in maintaining WCOM changes and daily in changes made as well as updating machine/department boards as assigned.
  • Practices safety at all times in compliance with company and department safety guidelines
  • Performs housekeeping duties to ensure a clean and safe work environment
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor or management
