About The Position

Printpack is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a Slitter Operator position for the Converting plant in Grand Prairie, TX. This will be a 12-hr day shift opening on a 3/2 rotating schedule from 7am-7pm: Sun/Wed/Thurs; Mon/Tues/Fri/Sat.

Requirements

  • Must be in good standing (No Discipline above Step 1 within 90 days at time of application).
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • 1 year of experience operating machinery/equipment preferred.
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
  • Ability to be self-directed and multitask.
  • Ability to follow directions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Slitter in order to ensure safety.
  • Perform to quality, waste, and production standards and goals.
  • Meet or exceed the customers (both internal and external) expectations.
  • Meet the highest of quality standards.
  • Communicate orally and/or in writing to other departments for resolution of mechanical problems, reporting defective material, coordination of job preparations, changeovers and daily shift information.
  • Report production accurately and timely through Prism to include waste, WIP, time codes, raw materials, etc.
  • Ensure your own safety while operating the machine and that of those assisting with operations.
  • Manage the duties of an operator, including but not limited to: Prepare master rolls for slitting, place rolls in machine and prepare for splicing, properly segregate and label all materials (as appropriate) - for work in process, rewinds, trash, and hold.
  • Assist in removing rolls from rewind (as necessary).
  • Remove and weigh startup rolls/materials at beginning of job.
  • Perform daily housekeeping duties to keep area clean and organized during setup, run and end of shift.
  • Remove and weigh all waste.
  • Keep trash waste separated from recycle materials.
  • Properly store all unused equipment.
