About The Position
Pregis is seeking a Slitter Machine Operator to join our team in Conover, NC. The primary responsibility of the Slitter Operator is to set up and operate slitting machines to cut rolls of Protective Film according to documented specifications. This role is crucial in ensuring optimum safety, quality, and production while minimizing costs, energy, and waste. The Slitter Operator will work in a team-based environment and report directly to the Production Manager. The position requires adherence to Environmental Health & Safety policies and a commitment to improving the facility's performance in this area. In this role, the operator will be responsible for setting up the slitter machines efficiently, ensuring that rotary slitter knives or razor blades are spaced and secured according to specified widths. The operator will maintain visual workplace standards and complete necessary paperwork, including visual check sheets and run condition sheets. Monitoring and maintaining product quality by identifying defects is essential, as is the safe operation of equipment such as jib hoists and pallet jacks. The Slitter Operator will also be expected to meet established production goals, enter production data into SAP, and actively participate in Continuous Improvement, Safety, and Quality initiatives. Housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe work environment are also part of the job. The ideal candidate will understand and support the PolyMask Quality Policy and contribute to the continual improvement of the Quality Management System by following current policies and procedures while providing constructive feedback and suggestions.
