About The Position

Bongards’ Creameries is seeking a Powder Handler/Kit Builder for the Slice line at our Humboldt facility. In this role, the team member is responsible for the mixing and addition of all ingredients required for each blend of cheese in accordance with the established recipe(s). The Powder Handler/Kit Builder is also responsible for creating kits which require hand stacking specific quantities of dry ingredient bags onto pallets to be used in the cheese making process. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent Math and Reading skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Must adhere to and follow all Safety, GMP, other Quality guidelines
  • Must maintain highest quality standards for plant and equipment cleanliness
  • Must report all food safety problems to immediate supervisor or designated replacement
  • Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Transports pallets of ingredients to the Powder Handling area using PIT
  • Verify ingredients are being added in accordance to the Blend Sheet
  • Open and feed 50lb bags of ingredients into hoppers or blenders
  • Records lot numbers of all ingredients added to the blender
  • Maintains immediate work area in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Responsible for removing all used bags from work area
  • Assemble bags of dry ingredients onto pallets and stage them for use
  • Maintain good communication with grinder operator(s)
  • Become knowledgeable on all GMP and HACCP guidelines
  • Achieve Powered Industrial Truck certification
  • Learn to update ingredient quantities in ROSS system
  • Assist in other areas when necessary
  • Work in a safe and proficient manner
  • Keep supervisors informed of any and all situations
  • Other duties as assigned
