About The Position

Summary Position Summary Responsible and accountable for performing quality Diagnostic Sleep Study Testing in accordance with the standards set forth by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), the Board of Registered Polysomnography Technologists (BRPT), and the American Association of Sleep Technologists (AAST). Works within interdisciplinary teams to provide safe and personalized care for the patient. Essential Duties Performs high-quality diagnostic sleep study testing to assist the physician in the diagnosis of sleep disorders in accordance with AASM, BRPT, AAST, and departmental policy and procedure. Assists with preparing patients for examination and may obtain patient medical history by accurately taking vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height, and weight) and documents the results in appropriate systems and/or EMR. May review medication list. May perform spirometry and/or other pre-appointment testing and documents the results appropriately. Prepares and completes all required documentation thoroughly and accurately. Performs all related responsibilities associated with Sleep Studies testing including operating and maintaining equipment in accordance with hospital and department safety policy and procedures. Proficient in the use and navigation of all sleep software and the electronic medical record. Participates in quality improvement processes on an ongoing basis, including acting as quality control subject as assigned. Maintains continuing education requirements as outlined by specific credentials through the Board of Registered Polysomnography Technologists (BRPT), the accreditation standards of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), as well as institutional policies. Proficient with the application of basic PAP therapies (CPAP and BIPAP) and medications in accordance with the AASM, insurance requirements, regulations, and department policies and procedures. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 6 months of healthcare patient care experience required.
  • Must obtain RPSGT within 1 year of date of hire or 6 months of eligibility.
  • BLS required

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or bachelors preferred.
  • Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Certified Polysomnography Sleep Technologist (CPSGT) and/or equivalent preferred.
