Responsibilities: Fully and independently supports lab operations through staff supervision and/or maintenance of equipment, scoring of studies, compiling and analyzing quality assurance data, and assumes charge responsibilities as requested. Supports and is actively involved in upgrades to equipment. Presents educational and quality assurance information at staff meetings. Role models professional behaviors, critical thinking skills, and excellent customer service ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assumes charge responsibilities and precepts new staff. Reviews scheduled patients and anticipates and resolves problems for the night staff. Alters the tech schedule to match tech skill level and abilities due to patient cancellations or add-ons to the current schedule. Develops and establishes procedures and schedules to meet operation needs. Works with leadership team on related personnel actions, including hiring and performance management activities. Trains acquiring and scoring focused on the sleep technologist program. Provides Evidenced Based Practice educational updates. Reviews studies of trainees and provides feedback. Evaluates the scoring of trainers of new staff. Selects, assigns, leads and trains staff as requested. Develops standard operating procedures and lab forms. Develops and tracks appropriate quality assurance indicators for the lab, including Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) efficacy forms. Presents quality assurance and educational activities at staff meetings. Presents educational activities in the community as requested. Calls patients who are direct referrals to obtain and document a medical history for review by the Sleep Center physicians as requested. Provides expert care to patients on nights or for daytime studies as needed. Identifies varied cardiac rhythm abnormalities. Ensures equipment is checked and “out of service” equipment is repaired and routed to vendor as appropriate. Communicates with office staff regarding problems with equipment that impacts patient scheduling. Manages hard drives and the server. Orders disposable and reusable equipment with cost efficiency in mind. Facilitates equipment upgrades and educates staff as to changes. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Polysomnography Technologist and 3 years experience in polysomnographic testing required
  • AASM - Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (NYS Licensure) upon hire required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support certified or CPR upon hire required
  • POLYSOM - Polysomnographic Tech (Registered) upon hire required
  • RPSGT - Registered Polysomnographer Technologist upon hire required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in health care related field preferred
  • Customer service skills, computer use agility, ability to work well in a team preferred
