About The Position

The Sleep Technician will work under the general supervision of the Manager, as well as the Lead Technologist. This individual will perform a wide variety of polysomnographic studies. The Technician will analyze data, score polysomnograms, and compile data into a report for physician review. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • BLS required
  • Excellent interpersonal a communication skills and understanding and sensitivity for patient comfort and confidentiality.
  • Moderate computer literacy
  • Ability to provide a positive customer service experience to guest, visitors, and patients.
  • Ability to maintain a professional and customer centric composure in difficult or challenging situations
  • Position requires sitting for 80% of the workday and mobility 20% of the workday. There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.
  • Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one prior year of direct contact patient care preferred.
  • EEG, LPN, EMT, Respiratory Therapist, or previous sleep experience preferred.
  • As required by the AASM standards enroll in the A-STEP online self study program within two weeks of hire and complete the program within the given AASM deadline.
  • Prefer proficiency in the principles of polysomnography and electroencephalography.
  • ACLS preferred
