About The Position

The Sleep Lab Technician is responsible for performing sleep studies and ensuring high standards of patient care and confidentiality. This role requires independent work under indirect supervision, with a focus on safe procedures and adherence to departmental policies. The technician will communicate with physicians, verify patient identities, and maintain a clean and stocked work environment while participating in quality improvement and educational opportunities.

Requirements

  • Certified Polysomnographic Technician preferred but not required.
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist preferred but not required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow directions from supervisors.
  • Basic understanding of computer technology.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment.
  • Consistent attendance to meet client and patient needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a sleep lab environment.
  • Knowledge of safety measures and procedures in healthcare settings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ordered sleep studies according to department policy and procedure.
  • Communicate with physicians regarding testing as needed.
  • Verify the identity of patients prior to performing exams.
  • Display accountability for assigned tasks.
  • Participate in educational opportunities related to new equipment and procedures.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and computer functions.
  • Adhere to department and SCRMC policies and procedures.
  • Keep the work area clean, neat, safe, and stocked with needed supplies.
  • Assist in all areas of the department as needed.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the operation of equipment.
  • Explain procedures and processes to patients.
