Department Overview This specialized department provides attended diagnostic testing services relating to the control of respiration, sleep staging, and esophageal pH recordings. Currently, Children's Minnesota, St. Paul has one of the only diagnostic sleep labs in the upper mid-west dedicated solely to the care of the pediatric population. Patients range in age from pre-term infants to young adults with special needs. The sleep lab is nationally accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Position Summary The Medical Assistant role will provide professional family-centered care to infants, children, and adolescents as delegated the Sleep Lab Clinical and Technical Supervisor and Sleep Technologist which may include the following duties: Escort patients to exam room, obtain height and weight, and appropriately document information. Assist in preparing patients and families for their overnight sleep studies, including Polysomnogram (PSG) hook-ups Stock PSG carts, patient rooms and supply closets Set up and take down patient rooms & support Sleep Center with clerical duties as need Perform laboratory specimen collection and processing to ensure the accurate and appropriate performance of patient testing while maintaining patient dignity, comfort and confidentiality. Learn and apply prescribed clearing and disinfection procedures for patient care equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program OR completion of an LPN/LVN or RN program.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year experience in a clinic setting or completion of Medical Assistant externship at a Children's Minnesota Clinic.
  • Pediatric experience.
  • Phlebotomy and basic laboratory skills (if required by clinic site).

Responsibilities
