About The Position

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. We are looking for an experienced responsible or project pump engineer for our Lunar Lander for NASA’s Artemis mission to lead the design and development of clean sheet pumps for various, water, coolant and propellant systems. The successful candidate will have designed, manufactured, and tested multiple electrically driven pumps for flight vehicles where cost and mass are critical factors. Requirements

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering or related technical subject area
  • 5+ years of experience in complete pump design
  • Professional experience designing components such shafts, motors, bearings, and pump rotors in various fluids such as water, LOX, LH2, or LNG
  • Experience in 3D CAD programs (Creo preferred) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (ANSYS preferred)
  • Proficiency in crafting engineering drawings with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills with ability to directly collaborate with external parties including government and commercial entities
  • Willingness to work on-site with occasional travel

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering or related technical subject area
  • 7+ years of experience in complete pump design
  • Experience in all phases of integrating pumps in space vehicle applications
  • Experience working with high speed submerged motors
  • Experience in engineering analysis/support for disposition of Non-Conformance (NC)
