About The Position

The position involves performing a variety of operations to assemble and upholster portions of fully upholstered furniture. The role requires moving frame assemblies from a roller conveyor to an upholstery lift and performing assigned duties using air stapling equipment, hand tools, templates, and measuring devices. The employee will work on various models to shape and form the upholstery for a specific appearance, fit, and trim.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one year experience
• Ability to read and follow directions (verbal and written)
• Basic math skills: counting, adding, subtracting
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds individually and up to 100 pounds with assistance
• Must have hand to eye coordination
• Must be organized and able to multi-task
• Must be able to complete job duties in a timely manner
• Ability to pay close attention to details
• Excellent attendance record
• Flexible to changing work stations as business dictates
• Work and make decisions with minimum supervision
• Overtime as required, including Saturday

Responsibilities

• Use transfer cart to move assembled frame from conveyor to upholstery lift, utilizing proper bending techniques to prevent strains.
• Staple filler material (foam) to the frame using a pneumatic staple gun, ensuring safety glasses are worn to protect against reflections.
• Cut excessive filler material from the frame using scissors.
• Attach fabric or leather to the frame with a pneumatic staple gun, pulling and stretching the material for the desired fit.
• Smooth and tuck seams in the upholstered product using a regulator (ice pick) for a crisp finished appearance.
• Trim excessive fabric around the finished wood portions of the frame with a box cutter (razor blade).
• Occasionally lift frames off the assembly conveyor due to repairs.
