About The Position

The Skills Trainer for Project SEARCH is responsible for facilitating the training and integration of students with disabilities in a worksite rotation and/or competitive work environment. This position is located at the Project SEARCH program at Salina Regional Health Center and is available immediately.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities and/or in the industry/business field preferred.
  • Enthusiasm and decision-making skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be a productive team member.
  • Flexibility and collaboration skills.
  • Professionalism and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support for students at the host business worksite rotation or competitive job, including job coaching, building natural supports, identifying job accommodations, and assistive technology.
  • Perform specific job analysis, task analysis, and job matching activities.
  • Train students in grooming, hygiene, communication, interviewing, and behavior as they relate to successful employment.
  • Communicate with the Project SEARCH instructor to make final decisions regarding any issues that may affect student success at a worksite rotation or competitive job site.
  • Attend training provided by school district personnel to become knowledgeable of strategies and current 'best practices' in the field of supported employment.
  • Communicate effectively with the Project SEARCH Instructor, other job coaches, employers, co-workers, family members, and school and agency personnel.
  • Demonstrate strong computer skills.
