About The Position
This is a unique and intensive on-the-job training program designed for individuals seeking initial licensure as a Skilled Nursing Home Administrator and a career as a health care executive. The AIT Program is a full-time, multi-month program in which the AIT obtains practical on-the-job training in a nursing home or assisted living environment under the direct supervision of an experienced Administrator preceptor/mentor. The training program includes: Rotation through the various departments and duties in a skilled nursing or assisted living facility; education on the interrelationships of the facility with outside parties and government agencies (such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services); and a study of regulations and requirements associated with the operation of a skilled nursing facility. Other topics of education for those in the AIT position include business/fiscal accounting management and principles of risk management and health care compliance. AIT candidates must meet the minimum regulatory requirements for licensure in their state of intended residence. An Administrator's long-term success in the role is limited only by his/her own performance and motivation.
