About The Position

Summary Perform physical labor tasks at building, residential, and heavy construction projects. May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, concrete vibrators, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, floor grinders, and various other equipment and instruments. May clean and prepare sites, place bulkheads, pour, level, and finish freshly placed underlayment product, use teamwork to meet daily established goals, help train and develop talent, fill out daily timesheets, take direction from and coordinate with Kents foreman/superintendent daily, and other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Duties and Responsibilities Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including a hard hat, high-visibility apparel, and additional protection as required by the task, e.g., a dust mask during mixing/pump operations. Safely perform general labor tasks on commercial construction sites with equipment, power tools, and common hand tools. Install and maintain fall protection, barricades, and other safety systems. Locate materials, supplies, equipment, and tools onsite and utilize them as directed to meet established production and quality goals. Walk and work on uneven surfaces, climb ladders, scaffold, and shoring frequently. Properly maintain all equipment and tools so that they are in a safe and reliable working condition. Work in a kneeling, crouching, or bent-over position on a frequent basis. Work in a variable environment, both indoors and outdoors, and during inclement weather, including extreme cold/heat, when required. Lift and break 80lb bags into a hopper. Install sound mat materials. Pull material hoses on job sites and place cementitious materials with hoses. Communicate effectively with your crew lead, foreman, and superintendent on safety, ask questions, and problem-solve. Assist the foreman and superintendent in tracking onsite material and reporting material usage. Demonstrate an understanding of standard job site setup. Read take-off sheets. Read prints to understand and perform each job to specifications, including elevation pin installations. Assist foreman and superintendent with daily mobilization and coordinate crew to complete daily tasks. Assist pump operator with pump setup and operation. Place and finish cementitious materials proficiently, with hoses to design specifications and plans. Operate a skid steer proficiently. Assist foreman/superintendent in performing quality control and quality assurance on underlayment pours. Train, develop, and support others to up-skill teammates and build a stronger division. Requirements

  • Ability to pass drug screening
  • Must have reliable transportation to the workplace(s)/ job location(s)
  • Provide personal gear such as steel-toe boots and hand tools such as a box cutter
  • Commercial construction experience, particularly gypsum underlayments
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Chauffers license
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check related to driving
  • Training and consistent experience in underlayments, leveling, and leadership
  • OSHA 10
  • Valid MDOT MED card or ability to obtain an MDOT MED card within agreed upon timeframe
  • Ability to work nontypical days and hours on construction schedules
