About The Position

Employee is responsible for maintenance, construction and repair of outdoor City property which may require the use of equipment such as backhoe, front loader, dump truck and ride on roller. Essential Job Functions Maintain regular and prompt attendance, physically present to work. Cleans and removes debris from City rights-of-way and alleyways. Operates machinery such as small compactors, pothole patcher truck, brush truck, backhoe, front loader, roller, and dump truck to complete assigned projects. May assist the Parks & Recreation Department with the maintenance of City parks and cemeteries. Completes a wide range of manual labor projects such as brush cutting, patching potholes, grass mowing, trimming trees, etc. Uses a variety of hand tools such as shovels, weed eaters, chainsaws, and riding lawn mower. Performs routine maintenance of assigned equipment and trucks. Assist with the completion of small concrete work projects such as sidewalks and curb side repairs. Performs other similar or related duties as assigned. Employee may be required to work beyond normal business hours at night and/or on weekends.

Requirements

• Must have High School diploma; or equivalent (GED)
• Up to one (1) to three (3) years of related work experience to perform such job
• Valid CDL Class "B" Texas Driver License and be insurable
• Must pass criminal background check and drug screen at City's expense
• Must successfully complete Emergency Management and Incident Command Training within first three months of hire date
• Safe and effective operation of equipment and machinery for public works department operations
• Ability to read and interpret instructions regarding the safe and efficient use of equipment and related materials
• Ability to pay careful attention to details
• Ability to recognize unsafe working conditions to ensure that appropriate safety precautions are taken for the safety of self and others
